The perks of zeal can heal and seal the second thoughts that try to steal your will.
A million thoughts wander here and there, but they somehow bring you back... to try, to strive, to thrive within what you can bear. Zeal becomes the heel that heals the real deal life reveals.
And without a little strife, life turns into a surreal wildlife. So we learn to be our own heroes in the meadows, improving the tempo of our days till we slowly grow into a wild life that finally feels like ours. Behaviourally, personally and interpersonally changes need to be made. For that, life needs to be experienced. It can’t be enforced. It can be encouraged.
Yes, we learn fiercely, but what if we seek peace with equal devotion? If that cannot be welcomed, then let the restless find a gentler atmosphere elsewhere.
As the child within each of us interactions with the world for the first time, it is the slow-burning zeal that keeps us engaged. But as that child is gradually nudged, wounded, and challenged by the environment around them, zeal is in its altered form. The enormity of your surroundings and their effects on you counts, of course. Yet you, ultimately, are the one held accountable for the health of your inner world. And here is where psychological strength enters. No, you’re not being punished or ‘put in a spot’. You’re gonna take your power back in your hands.
‘Realization’ lies beyond what mind often grasps, so you’re unaware of the psychological strength you already possess. You wonder is strength about being that unbreakable volcanic structure…solid, immovable, impervious?
To exude true psychological strength, one should sometimes become the lava itself. It is alive, transformative, and fiercely purposeful. Lava is “good” in the sense that it dissolves what is false and rigid. It is “bad” only to the parts of your life that were already unstable or untrue. Strength is not the absence of heat but the direction of it. When denied permission to feel our own force, we drift through life without ever recognizing and owning the depth of our psychological strength. Covering up fractures to project an imagine eventually fails, but managing through the breaks and fractures is great work.
Many of us end up paying intentional opportunity costs and absorbing Marginal Private Costs due to the inefficiencies of people who shaped or misshaped our environment. All this while living in permutations and combinations of circumstances and people who let us down. Others ran frantic sprints thinking they were marathons. At times, I turned pages in chapters that were already ending. The calculus of it all dy/dx of tan(θ) being 0 when everything had nearly resolved felt almost humorous.
Mental health is always spoken about, always circulating in conversations. But every time the word depends appears, the hope is that the discussion isn’t trying to end itself and deep conversations have space. Whatever anything is, only you can absorb or discard what the world feeds you. No one else sifts your interior.
Groups of individuals coagulate into communities, societies, economies, nations but all of them exist inside the same gigantic, spinning sphere of expectation. I remember writing a journal filled with case studies about teen life. No matter the age or phase, a pattern driven by pressure, comparison, and the relentless demand to ‘prove’ oneself shatters one’s spirit. Everyone is unique, so reassurance can only carry you so far. It becomes permission, validation, and then a place to hide. Sooner or later, you return to the calm rooms of your past, where your own people wait. And it is you who must figure your folks. Of course this isn’t about the more cordial/professional relationships, but one-on-one roles.
In the midst of trying to secure something as understandable as stability, the pursuit somehow mutates into a hunger for control, power, and supremacy. Titles change, structures are named differently. In the guise of highly intelligent justifications, uninspiring ideologies reign. After all, nothing is perfect, so one might as well use intelligence to legitimize anything.
On one side, we witness unhealthy competition. On the other, reckless ways disguised as freedom. It will look fabulous and glow its soul out if it has anything to show. Caught between these two forces, a generation will navigate its inner world using tools it was never given, while being judged by standards it never chose.
Circulating misery like annual reports, and every next institution replicating itself endlessly, herding children like livestock. Most careers become synonymous with salary packages. Media amplifies fabricated narratives about what education really is, who deserves opportunity, who counts as “successful.” Meanwhile, the intrinsic, raw, non-glamorous labor of engaging with hard, slow, conceptually demanding work is negated because it does not yield quick and marketable results.
We want to celebrate together and be celebrated. But doing so purely for the sake of it isn’t a healthy purpose. Market demands need to be met, but at the expense of everything, as if they were the foundation? No. Have we ever questioned the faculty who preside over these systems, their validity, their ability, their philosophy of teaching? If Newton or Nikola allowed themselves to be swallowed by what drives recent generations, human knowledge would have stood still. We forget that their breakthroughs came from observation, curiosity, process, solitude, and a relentless drive to get to the bottom of things.
Deeply immersing in the flawlessly flawed realm of social media does more than distract. It triggers anxiety, self-hate, paranoia, jealousy, and sleeplessness. It feeds an internal weather system of corrosive thoughts accumulating in both heart and mind. And when such thoughts seep into the ways one expresses, speaks, or even imagines, the output is predictably toxic. A chain reaction in full display. So, guiding role becomes one of the most overestimated and neglected philosophies of our time. The result is an entire generation exposed to the good, the bad, and the undoubtedly ugly. Aversion and vexation. Zeroed conversation.
